Don't Ask Don't Tell Repealed

http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/12/22/sweep.dont.ask.dont.tell/index.html?hpt=C2

This article from CNN covers the recent passing of the bill to repeal the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. The policy was put in place to discourage openly gay people from joining the military and/or if the joined to keep it completely quiet. This meant that anything from your past or present that pointed to you being gay or rose suspicions you could be dishonorably discharged.
As of now nothing has changed but they will slowly make progress to completely get rid of the policy. Obama will have to sit down with the Secretary of Defense to go over rules and regulations and change anything that contradicts the repeal.
This is history in the making for the Gay Rights movement and for this country. It's hard to think about how this nation is supposed to be so advanced and liberal but it has taken this long to repeal this policy. I'm glad that people finally realize that this is not something to make a big deal about. Someone's sexual orientation doesn't mean they can't fight for their country.
